How to Build a Keyword Cluster in 10 Minutes (Template Included)

Stop targeting one keyword per page. Learn the cluster method to rank for dozens of related terms with a single article.

Most content creators make the same mistake: they write one article for one keyword and hope for the best. But Google rewards topical depth, not isolated pages. A keyword cluster groups related terms around a central pillar, signaling authority to the algorithm.

Here’s the streamlined version. Use a tool like Ahrefs or Semrush to export keywords for your topic. Paste them into our clustering template (free download for subscribers). The template groups keywords by search intent and similarity score. Then write one comprehensive pillar page targeting the head term, and link out to cluster articles for modifiers.

In practice, I did this for a client in the fitness niche. We clustered 40 keywords around "home workout equipment." The pillar page now ranks for 12 terms in the top 5 positions. Total setup time: one hour. The template does the heavy lifting.
